Man arrested for molesting 20 women during morning walks

Jibran Saif Sayyed after being arrested

Jibran Saif Sayyed, a worker in garment business was arrested on Thursday for being accused of molesting 20 women between Bandra and Khar. Back in 2011 he was arrested for kidnapping and raping a woman but was left on bail. Sayyed lives in Navpada, Bandra East with his wife and parents.

The Mumbai branch was successful in catching the accused after two women, in different incidents, reported being groped while they were out for a walk. The women specifically mentioned that the accused has a maroon Activa.

In the first case, a 21-year-old woman who works in a private firm was molested on 29th June when she was out for a morning walk. She reported that the incident took place on Nargis Dutt Road at Pali hill.

In the second case, the woman was out for an evening walk at around 7pm on 1st July where she was molested near Rizvi College on Carter Road.

The crime branch’s unit 9 then started an inquiry in both cases and checked CCTV cameras in the areas where the incidence took place.

“We found a clear picture of Sayyed in the cameras with his Maroon Activa, near Ambedkar Chowk, which is a few meters from where the incident took place,” said a crime branch officer. “The Activa’s headlight was on. There was no registration number on the bike,” said the official, adding that they noticed two small fog lights were fitted below the headlight and that there was no side mirror.
