Restaurant Showcase: The Table, Colaba

The Table, located at Colaba was started by Jay Yousuf and Gauri Devidayal in early 2011. The duo teamed up with the San Francisco Bay area’s consultant Chef Joey Altman and Executive Chef Alex Sanchez to conceptualise the trendy restaurant.  Chef Alex uses technique to enhance the flavours of the best ingredients available and while he aims to procure as many ingredients as possible from local sources, he does also use some imported products. The service is friendly and professional without pretension, and the food is intended for sharing in order to encourage the notion of community.

Lunch at The Table is a bright and breezy affair, the floor to ceiling window arches draped with beige sheers allowing in the natural sunlight, contrasted by the black and white hand chiselled stone chevron floor make you feel far removed from the searing heat and frenetic Bombay life.  Both the a la carte menu and the new Set Lunch menu includes several dishes for those who want to grab a quick bite over a business lunch or between appointments.  Alternatively, for those who prefer to linger over their lunches, there are plenty of The Table’s signature small and large plates, desserts, teas and coffees to choose from.

The Sunday brunch offers a variety of dishes such as the Cuban style French Toast soaked in Maple Syrup, Cream Cheese and Guava, which are a favourite for adults and children alike!  The seasonally changing Cocktail menu, put together by Diageo’s Brand Ambassador Tim Etherington-Judge is best enjoyed at Brunch, The Table Burger, or the American Breakfast, these are perfectly paired by a Table Bloody Mary, Smokey Martini or a Market Fresh Caipiroska.

The dinner menu is uniquely comprised of small and large plates, snacks and sides.  There are over 60 wines on offer, both imported and local and with the unique idea of serving wine by the half glass, which allows guests to try more from the elaborate selection.

Between lunch and dinner, The Table offers the quintessentially English Champagne High Tea and Afternoon Menu.  The Table is Colaba’s only stand-alone restaurant to offer its customers a decadent High Tea and is well worth the visit !  They offer 12 different loose leaf teas which include Darjeeling First Flush, Nilgiri Early Spring, Hibiscus or Kashmeri Kahwa, over a Cucumber and Cream Cheese sandwich or a sumptuous Tea Pastry.  For those who missed lunch and who feel like having something more substantial, you can select one of our dishes from the Afternoon menu; the infamous Zucchini Spaghetti or Boneless Chicken ‘Wings’ or why not go for it and try the Chili Cheese Toasties or our Mac ‘n Cheese…irresistible!
